Here, Yoon is being super tough. Which is bad-ass’d. Visible on her shoulder is a friction burn where her shirt/cardigan thing melted to her flesh from the heat generated by attempting to wrestle the ground to the ground. Hard.
This is Yoon’s skull art. She tried to do some “exposed brain” performance piece, but was stopped by the authorities in time to preserve most of her personality and some of her childhood memories. (Seriously, though, she’s totally fine).
Helmet: strapped down to regulation tightness.
This is us getting our shit together outside the hospital that treated Yoon after her initial “head-butting the ground at 30 miles an hour” thing.
This is after they first blasted Yoon with radiation to make sure that her brain wasn’t bleeding from the inside (DON’T WORRY! It wasn’t). While she didn’t get any cool super powers, there’s some evidence to suggest that the Vietnamese doctor who bit her has given her some Vietnamese doctor-related powers. For example, she can ask people about how peaches feel ALL DAY LONG. WITH ZERO FATIGUE.
Ruby taking pictures.
Here’s another shot of Ruby taking pictures with her primitive “film” camera.
This is how British people take a “breather”. They’re in always in a state of constant, cat-like readiness. EVen when they’re calm and carrying on, they’re still ready to lay down their lives for the Queen’s second cousin’s honor (or whatever).
Josh enjoying his first-ever Nuoc Mia. That’s sugar cane juice and kumquat (usually kumquat, anyway). It sounds as awesome as it tastes.
Ruby reclining in the sun, totally utilizing hammock technology to its full potential.
This restaurant was a cool scene. It was halfway between Saigon and Dong Xoai and it was delicious.
Dogs are great. This dog ate a chicken bone while I watched. If I had more love in my heart, I would have stopped it. That said, it did look like it knew what it was doing.
Josh kicking it at a joint just down the street from the hotel we got. It wasn’t in the middle of nowhere or anything, but it was pretty close.
Yoon totally biffed it mid-way through our first day and she was a fucking trooper, despite having every reason not to be. On the bright side, she got stitches and several weeks of convalescence.
Yoon’s telling a story, here. Desptie the fact that she’s in crippling pain and has had a serious accident, she’s quite chipper and animated.
