This is the Colne, looking down the river. You can see the sunken wreckage of some old boat up on the left. I wanted to climb around that thing. The prow of an abandoned boat. I don't know if it sunk before it was abandoned, or after. There are wrecked boats all up and down the river. I watched over a couple of weeks as a couple bought and tried to rebuild a boat which sunk and is now, I presume permanently, mired in the mud and taking a snorkeling sorties every time the tide comes in. The mud below the ship is normally just for grass, but the relative dryness of the ship has allowed hardier plants which require dryer soil.
