We drove all over the US and it wasn’t particularly sequentially planned for efficiency. That said, we got to go visit Sara. She and Adam allowed us to stay at her really cool house for several days. We hung out with her dog, Cash, and rolled her chickens for eggs like the chumps they were. It has been a long, long time since I’ve seen Sara. It was really good to see her doing so well. You may or may not care about this, but she seems to like her job and be happy with the life she’s built for herself. We got to watch her play some Henry Mancini in her community orchestra in the public park in her town, which was a lot of fun. A wizard was there. He had a pennant flag and everything.
After enjoying Sara and Adam’s hospitality, we took off with her America The Beautiful Annual Pass gifted to us and visited several national parks. It was so beautiful. It’s easy to forget how beautiful and amazing America is on account of how it’s filled with fucking assholes. But, man, is it ever beautiful. Those assholes really want to fuck it up, chop it down and burn it up, though. Fucking assholes!
There’s, like, 11 or 12 days to the election. We’ll see whether it’s four years of permanent tax breaks for the mega wealthy and insanely balloon federal debt or boring, slightly right of center social programs and pro-corporate tax bullshit. That’s not fair, though. It really is more than that. There’s no false equivalency, here. One is far, far worse than the other in terms of our global standing and well-being of lower income folks- also the rule of law and America not sliding closer to authoritarian rule. But, you know, all that really matters is what rich people want, so… Probably Trump.
Anyway, we had a great time on this leg of the trip. Super pretty. Great to see Sara and laugh our asses off at deeply unfortunate people who weren’t us.
