People screaming “fake news” are either consuming or making fake news. Alanis Morissette has a song about this which, ironically, features no irony. Maybe. I’ve never been confident about the definition of irony- I know it means more than coincidental, though.

Fox News is a foul pestilence belching hatred and feigned outrage to inflame a base born and bred to be fooled into thinking the darkest, most lizard-brained of their beliefs are grounded in facts. (We now know this to be a fact, thanks to the Dominion Lawsuit). Stephen Colbert joked about this concept, calling it ‘truthiness’.
Truthiness has migrated the Overton window and become, simply, truth. Again, there is irony in the fact that the political party which defines itself as against moral relativism (“Truth is objective and not dependent on social contexts!” they bellow, the question mark at the end of the sentence buried deep, deep in the most fearful, secret part of their minds) is now the biggest, most unashamed purveyor of lies and falsehood. Accused of bribing people you’ve fucked into not telling people about your affair? Perhaps you’ve attempted to bring down the US government or overturn an election? Your accusers are pedophiles and literal lizard people who drink the adrenal fluids of children. Caught lying about your mother’s death, your Jewish heritage, your credentials, your education? Your questioners are liars who aren’t concerned with the truth- truth being very important, of course. Up is down and down is up, whenever you need it to be so.
Things have been made backwards and upside down by precisely the same group who have been claiming the world is backwards and upside down for decades.
And wherever their lies don’t stick, they engineer the destruction of humanist policies.

The Netherlands recently got in trouble (the whole government resigned! Like American Democrats, they still have shame in The Netherlands, apparently) for using ethnicity when algorithmically scanning for welfare fraud. Denmark is doing the same thing, now. They are doing this, because conservative shit-bags have whipped up concern about non-problems with their welfare system and turned it into national outrage.
Things like this are confusing for me. Why does government exist? Is it not to make a place as good as it can for as many as it can? I don’t give a fuck about welfare fraud- most often pegged at less than 1% of welfare recipients (in France and The Netherlands, for example). I give a fuck about corporations sucking surplus labor from citizens and enriching themselves and the ass-licking, fart-huffing fuckwads that run these companies getting to live like gods while everyone else is trapped in the bottom layers of their pyramid scheme. People cheating welfare and living shitty, grifter-y lives? They aren’t riding around on yachts and eating buttery lobster butts. Denmark spent $3 million clawing back around $25 million dollars from bums in the welfare system. I bet that same $3 million would have had a significantly higher return had it been directed at the wealthy cheaters and fraudsters who fund conservative zit-suckers. But these anti-humanist movements (same entities who pushed to end legal abortions in the states, who moan about American welfare, blah, blah, blah) are bankrolled by the same wet, conservative trashbags who pull the levers at Fox News and run the GOP- keeping everyone distracted with bullshit that doesn’t fucking matter. Which bathroom a trans person uses doesn’t impact anyone except trans people. Why the fuck does anyone care about who uses what bathroom, unless they’re trans? I’ll tell you why: because these excrement rags have constantly, repeatedly talked about these things as if they were of national concern until, lo and behold, they were of national concern. America doesn’t care about the nation’s budget, schools, quality of life, freedom, medical system; no, it cares about a trans high school athlete competing against cisgendered athletes. Devo was right. Jocko homo will rule us all.
