Eastern “Medicine” Museum and 2/3 Street Temple

Sofia and I went to a Eastern “Medicine” Museum in HCMC where they had a bunch of herbal medicine woo-woo hooey with about as much research and careful effort as you’d expect put into presentation and factual accuracy. The Bảo Tàng Y Học Cổ truyền Việt Nam (Museum and Study of traditional Vietnamese Medicine, maybe?) is located at 41 Hoàng Dư Khương, Phường 12, Quận 10, Hồ Chí Minh. While it’s a beautiful building (recently constructed from parted out older homes, mostly from the 19th century), it’s mostly an advertising effort by a fake medicine company called Fito. There’s a video narrated by a nasally westerner who makes multiple hesitation errors and dully drones out demonstrably false claims about various herbal remedies. Later, Sofia and I went to a big new temple right around prayer time. It was a good time had by all.
